some internet users are just totally freakin stupid

realllly gettin pissed here..

I'm the webmaster (just a freakin title) of a newspaper website, we run fusetalk forums - just like these (hey, they rock)
Theres a few stupid assed users who can't:
- figure out the Private Message system
- figure out the topic subscription scheme
- figure out how to change their password

Unfortunately, none of these users know they're asstards. Instead, they all publicly complain that the forums are buggy.
Time and time again i tell them that I didn't write the forums, and theres no bugs in the basic functionality

Internet trolls are ten times worse when it's a local website.

Most of it is common sense. If people would actually TRY and READ instructions, they could probally figure out 99% of the stuff out.

Uh... did you need to have your hand held to learn how to use these forums? I have the same problem jntdesign has, except I manage a website that is used almost exclusively by people over the age of 50. I gave up on the forums altogether, but they still don't understand how to get to the staff section of the site (www.domain.org/staff) without a link.

I understand your opinion on this, but the entire PM procedure is spelled out quite well in the "Help" section at the top of this page.

There's a big difference between not knowing how to do something, and being too stupid to figure it out when simple instructions are clearly available.

 

heres some more detail, one user INSISTS that the private message system doesn't work at all.
He complains about it, and compares the site to yahoo every chance he gets. He solicits to other members saying "use yahoo, cuz these so called 'forums' are worthless"

another coknocker emails me every other day complaining about the thread subscription emails. He even claims that he didn't subscribe.
I login as him, remove the subscriptions...send him a detailed set of instructions on how to unsubscribe AND how to subscribe - but he still can't figure it out.

then the two get together, have their own little circlejerk in the "website complains/suggestions" category and make a public mockery of me.
they stoop as low as commenting on topics i've voiced my opinion on.
"maybe if the webmaster hadn't made that post in the 'Movie game' topic he could fix his website"

just wanna kick em in the front of the butt

the users that are incompetent happen to use the #1 ISP in the area that uses DHCP
