Not sure how this year will pan out between ATi and NV.
With DX10 and Vista not quite finalized yet, it would make little sense to release G80 so quickly.
A G71 refresh makes a lot more sense. However, if they do not do a die shrink, then 32pipes doesn't make too much sense either, it would mean an even larger GPU core, with a potential for even lower yields. And I doubt they'd release their top GPU with lower clocks than the 7900GTX. Plus we're not sure if they even have been working on a 32-pipe G7x card or not.

It's insane how much the GPU release schedules have quickened. ATI is going from R420 to R480 to R520 to (R521?) in less than two years. Nvidia similarly is refreshing their GPU's even more quickly. It's amazing how quickly these cards are losing value!
