Hmm...who knows, maybe I'll swap my 7900 GT's for this upcoming X1950?
Sounds very good.
But I'm pretty sure even an Ultra water OC'd X1900 XTX couldnt compete with two voltmoded 7900 GT's.
I guess we'll have to wait and see.

THE VOLE decided to postpone its operating system and that's certainly given the graphic companies some time to rearrange their road maps

I know those words, but that sentence makes no sense

i hate the inquirer

they make articles like

NEXT NVIDIA PART

900mhz clockspeed and 2000mhz memory!

or

NEXT NVDIAI PART 48 PIPELINES!!

People are already hitting 2000mhz on memory with a slight voltage bump :p (on the newer 7900GTX and even GT's)

it's a rumor mill, but they do sometimes hit the mark.

at 750MHz core.. these babies with Opteron 170 @ 2.6Ghz , 2GB ram should be able to hit the 13200 3D 2005 marks with ease : ) well i have seen screenshot of people that hit that type of mark with that kind of clock speed with a x1900XTX : )

If this R580+ does exist what would be NVs anwser? I dont think they will be moving to 80nm so quickly. Im thinking that NV might release the G80/NV50 to compete. (Well i hope they would, because it would bring ALOT of improvement over there current architecture based on the fact they spent about 400+M onto this science project).

However, A G71 refresh hence G75? might be the 32 pipe monster?

Not sure how this year will pan out between ATi and NV.

It comes out in march.

Err, they mean the steady march (progress) of hardware architecture. I loathe their obsessive-compulsive use of these silly terms. It was not funny the first time and it's not getting any more so the ten thousandth.

The Inq. coined the word. It is a combination of the words- marketing and architecture.

Not sure how this year will pan out between ATi and NV.

With DX10 and Vista not quite finalized yet, it would make little sense to release G80 so quickly.

A G71 refresh makes a lot more sense. However, if they do not do a die shrink, then 32pipes doesn't make too much sense either, it would mean an even larger GPU core, with a potential for even lower yields. And I doubt they'd release their top GPU with lower clocks than the 7900GTX. Plus we're not sure if they even have been working on a 32-pipe G7x card or not.

---------

It's insane how much the GPU release schedules have quickened. ATI is going from R420 to R480 to R520 to (R521?) in less than two years. Nvidia similarly is refreshing their GPU's even more quickly. It's amazing how quickly these cards are losing value!
