Some idiot keeps using my e-mail address, over and over

Somehow an assload of people with my first initial, last name @ gmail seem to get their e-mail address wrong and use mine instead. I've had it posted in a major US newspaper by mistake, the author of the article f-ed up. I've also received numerous e-mail confirmations of orders, passwords, financial information, project reports, party invites, personal messages, etc.

Usually they are from all over the country, but one guy in particular seems to lack the ability to get his e-mail address correct - Jordan. I'm not sure how this guy makes it through life, but over the past 90 days, he has used my e-mail address ALL over the place (and no, its not Spam)

I've contacted each of the people who have e-mailed Jordan at my address, and many reply with an apology, but yesterday I reached my limit.

Apparently Jordan is looking for a job, as I received some confirmations of his registration for a few job websites, as well as some e-mails from employers responding to the resume he sent them.

I'm half tempted to not only reply that they have the wrong address, but that the person they are seeking has an either an issue with accuracy or just lacks basic typing skills.

youre keeping a company from hiring someone who should probably be only working at a gas station or flipping burgers

I have the same problem with my gmail account (although not as bad). I did reply to one person asking for a reference, that I definitely did not recommend someone who didn't know their own email address. Never got a response...

In situations where I needed to enter an email address, but didn't want to reveal my own, I've purposely entered the address of the person who forced me to have a dumb '2' on the end of my personal email address by having the same last name+1st initial that I do. It's payback. You take my address, I sign you up for dumb stuff.

Haven't done that in a while though, now that I have a new ISP and new email address.

Or ask them if they mind you showing up for the interview in assless chaps and a corset...

I have the same problem with my gmail address. I usually reply if they seem legitimate. Sometimes I get malicious.

I have the same problem, seems that Gmail fails to recognize the . between the first and last name so if I put first.last@gmail it's the same as firstlast@gmail.com. Damn monkeys.

i read about them making "." irrelevant so abcd = a.bcd = ab.cd = a.b.cd, etc.
they say they are one and the same.
i have a couple first.last@gmail accounts, and i notice i sometimes get firstlast@gmail bounces.
i hope the later account is not active.
google is all evil, i'm telling you.

I have the exact same problem, luckily my last name is a bit more rare, but the fact that I got into e-mail early enough to get <firstinitial><lastname>@gmail.com has definitely caused me to get some odd e-mails that are not spam, just misrouted. Sounds like Jordan is a grade A dumbass though.

I have some girl named Anne who keeps screwing up and giving people my E-mail address as hers. This has been going on for two years now.

Initially I was just correcting people who sent me her E-mails. Except that it appears that Anne's problem is genetic. Her family continued to send me E-mails instead of sending them to Anne. After the 5th polite reply that I was not Anne, I finally lost it and sent a rather spectacular tirade of insults and swearing, the sort that really requires German and Scotts-Irish ancestry to fully appreciate.

I received an E-mail back from them telling me that it wasn't nice response and that I was obviously a very troubled person and that, being christians, they would pray for me. I sent them an E-mail back saying that since they hadn't responded to 5 polite E-mails, it was only logical to conclude that they were too stupid to respond to anything other than vulgarity.

I haven't heard from them again. However, I do continue to get E-mail from Anne's idiot sorority sisters.

As an added bonus, the account in question never once received a spam message until Anne started giving it out. Now I get about 25 per day.

It's not. However, the initials of Anne's first and middle names apparently match mine, and we share the same last name (it's a common last name).

I have the same problem with my gmail. Some guy named Eric keeps signing up for shit and putting my email as his. Apparently Eric was busy today - earlier, I got one from Myspace about a forgotten password, and a "new account confirmation" email from myfreepaysite.com a few minutes after that. Before that it was account confirmations for various travel websites, etc. It's getting old fast.
