So it's happened twice in the past 2 seasons and both times it's in KC?

no, both times it was in Chicago while the Royals were playing the White Sox

Umpire Laz Diaz was attacked by a fan who came out of the stands during Tuesday night's game between the Kansas City Royals and Chicago White Sox in a frightening reminder of what happened last year at Comiskey Park.

I agree with most things they said on baseball tonight...like they should be prosecuted severly for doing this...but the one thing i disagree with was that to solve this problem they have to stop letting people in the cheaps seats come down to the good seats late in the game...

no where have i ever read that these fans came from the upper deck...

i always do that because I cant afford the expensive seats and if its late in a game ill move down...

just pisses me off...there are better ways then to do that

Nice pic of the moron in the back of a squad car. How nice that the blood on his shirt and head is his own.

I wouldn't say he exactly attacked the umpire...more likely he ran up to the ump flailed his arm foolishly and promptly got a beat down by the former marine UMP and the rest of the Chicago White Sox + Kansas City Royals team.

yeah i liked seeing the right field just clock him...in one replay it looked like he wound up and hit him in the head, possibly with the hand holding the ball, cause the ball seemed to come loose right after it...

i hate stupid people...

Oh no, he quite clearly attacked the umpire. He hit him from behind and tried to tackle him as the ump was watching the right fielded catch a fly ball for the 3rd out. The ump shook the guy off just as the right fielder (Brandon Berger I think) got there to help. At that point the moron must have known he was in trouble and kind of rolled over into a fetal position. The ump and securiity guys were just holding him down, but the Royals players started getting a few shots in. Berger hit the guy in the head with the baseball and a few other players that got there later kicked the guy and stomped him a little. It looked like a little leftover hostility from last years attack on their 1st base coach Tom Gamboa. Same two teams, same city. If security didn't get the guy off the field quickly the Royals likely would have beat the guy to a pulp.
