RC5 is a contest that DNet take part in... We're trying to find the key to a message encrypted with 64 bit encryption, read some more here.

Some of the guys in here are running their client as a part of TeAm Anandtech and we're currently in a tight position! The DPC (Dutch Power Cows) are catching up to us fast and we're also trying to catch the /. team to be number one in the world! The sad part is that the DPC are seriously outproducing us at the moment and will overtake us in just a short while after we pass /. :(

If you're interested in helping us keep ahead of the DPC and overtaking /. your contribution would be greatly appreciated! Nice tutorial can be found here.

We've got a lot of great guys here that are willing to help with any kind of problem you've got (computer-wise or other ;)) and we also have STAAAATS! lots of it! We have our own IRC channel at irc.worldirc.org #teamanandtech and we'll soon have our own dedicated gameserver as well

If there is anything else just holler!

RC5 is a Distributed Computing project to break the 64 bit internet encryption code by Brute Force. The contest is run by Distributed.net and was originally sponsored by RSA inc. (The company that patented the 64 bit encryption method). The contest has been running for 3 years now with the goal of breaking a 2^64 combination encryption code. The brute force method is to go through all combinations of keys until the encrytption code is cracked.

Distributed.net (link in Two-Face post above) has turned this concept into a contest. Each contestant (or Team) runs the clients (program) on their PC's in the background crunching on the code. The client does not effect the PC as it only used IDLE cycles to crunch/crack the code. All work is received and sent to d.net or one of the various network sites that hold/send blocks (proxies). The fun in the contest is the stats and the races (again: See Two-Face above). There have been over 10,000 teams since the contest started with TeAm Anandtech currently the #2 position in the world...poised to take over #1 within the next week or 2....The sad part is that we are currently and consistantly finishing in the #2 spot in the daily totals to the Dutch Power Cows....They will overtake us within 4 to 6 months at their current rate!

We need your help! The links that Two-Face posted above are of a great help. We would love to welcome you aboard and to TeAm Anandtech...Please don't hesistate to ask any questions you may have......We think you'll enjoy it...We do!

Great day all! :D
