It take me about 7-8 minutes to burn a full disk using this new drive. I have tried both easy cd, and Nero burn (latest versions)

Also I frequently have problems with rw disks suddenly reading full, and then freezing, when they are not.

I have a dell box with a P4, 128megs of rd ram and am running XP. It should work.

dumb question, but what speed media are you using? if you're using something that's less than 24x rated, you'll get lower speeds. also check something about DMA. i don't really know what it is, but i've heard that it can affect speed. hope this helps.

How about more info. How are you burning the cd, from data off the HD or making a CD copy? Are you burning a copy using 'on-the-fly- or writing the source cd to the HD first?

Are you burning data or wave or mp3 audio?
