Once in a while, you get to hear about something good and it involves the police. This story certainly fits the bill. I only read this source, so maybe there's more detail out there somewhere.

Wow...WWLP...that's a blast from the past. I lived in Springfield, Mass till I was 10. (my dad was USAF stationed at Westover AFB)

And, yeah, the good stuff cops do mostly gets ignored because the bad stuff sells better.

Well, it's not just that it sells better, it's that cops doing bad things frequently involve people getting framed, beaten or killed. This is just a reminder that most police are trustworthy (although I reject "just a few bad apples" claims).

Yup, I call Western mass my home since moving from OH to MA in '87 when I was 6. Westover is still thriving, it really supports a lot of the area in a few ways.
