i have a t-bird 750@1gig, and it's cooled pretty well, the temp doesnt top 40C. whenever i play mechwarrior 4, ra3 (only ra3 mod, quake 3 doesnt freeze), and giants freezes after 15-20 mins too. what could cause this?

i have a visiontek geforce 2. hmm, well, my ram shouldn't be a problem, cus these games never used to crash on my old system. my old system used this stick of ram too. but, i think i might of figured out my problem. my modem driver causes MW 4 to crash once in a while. once i get rid of the systray applet, i don't freeze. but giants still kicks me out to the desktop.

my 2 cents
check your ram and your video card. if both are good, try to give your pc better ventilation. most game now are crazy with graphic so when it run .. oh my god.. it really burn

Throw some pop corn kernals in your case. Start playing MechWarrior, if you hear the corns pop, your case is too hot!!! :Q:Q:Q

update the video card drivers, but don't use the new official dets, because they "is suck"

ventilation is not a problem. i have over 5 80mm fans directing air over the video card and cpu. my case never passez 75 degrees F (my house is always cold too). i have 2 fans on the video card, one to suck air off the gpu, another 80mm sucks that hot air out. i figured that it is my dsl modem driver connectivity thing on the system tray. once i close that, things run fine.
