How incompatible are the public transportation options? I used to take a combined 90 minute train ride each way to work but spent that time napping or reading so it wasn't a loss. If you're talking about an hour or two, there are things to do to occupy that time.
 
People saying ride your bike to work, if he's spending that much money on gas in a week, it doesn't look like it's a reasonable distance to bike.

You can always combine it with public transport, to get a better mix.
Still, if it's not too hilly, you can do that in <2 hours. Maybe a bit slower in the morning, and a bit faster in the evening, if you can't shower at work, and need to be presentable.

Also, what kind of car do you drive, that takes 70 euros worth of fuel to do 450km? Any halfway decent Diesel hatch should be able to cut that cost in half.
See if you can get a more economic car for the long run. I put only 98 into my 1.6, and drive it like an idiot, and still only top out at 55 euro for 450km. (in France)

Ask your family for a loan to fix the car, if you really want it fixed.
Maybe you can put the repair off, and loan a scooter for the interim.
 
90km is a bit far to bike to each day, but maybe a cheap motorbike

instead of finding a place closer to work, maybe finding a job closer to where you live?

even if it doesn't pay as much (and it doesn't sound like it could pay much less), the net may be worth it if it cuts transportation and food costs

How is public transportation incompatible with a "full shift"?

When I lived in Europe public transportation ran pretty late at night and started pretty early in the morning. If a public transportation system isn't designed to accommodate a full time job it isn't worth much/very practical.

Let me spell it out for those of you that come in with these types of questions:

I work in a typical white collar job that most kids would praise. I get paid pretty fuckin' well. My vacation/benefits is also awesome. Work is a tough ass grind where overtime is expected. But I tell you all this to bring out one final point.

1. I don't drive to work. Why? Because I'm not a dumbass that wants to pay for car gas, car maintanance (0.50 per mile last i recall), car wrecks, $10/day for parking etc.. etc.. I RIDE the fucking bus in my business attire and laptop bag.
2. I don't go out to eat every day. In fact, unless I'm invited (which usually means I'm not paying the tab anyway) I never go out to eat for lunch. No exceptions. I'm a desk-diner - but you know what? If they really want me to eat in the crap break room with little space, oh well.

Why do you feel the need to do these types of things? I stopped those because it was simply throwing money in the trash can. Case and point, quit bitching - the answers are right in front of you, but none of you fuckheads have the ball sacks to do something about it.

what is wrong with a sandwich? It is the prefect meal. Meat, bread, cheese, what is not to like?

What law would that be? Would that be US law, or Spanish law, since the OP's profile says he's in Spain?

Different countries, different laws. I worked construction for MOST of my life, but I spent a few months working in a CPA firm where we were not permitted to eat on the premises. We had to (a) go out for meals, (b) eat in our cars, or (c) not take lunch breaks.

i just eat soup for lunch every day, that way lunch only costs me a buck

Random followup eight months later. Gotta love it. Are you still at the same job?

What kind of work do you do that pays so poorly? And is there a particular reason why the company doesn't provide its employees with a place to eat lunch on the premises? I've never heard of such a thing in the US.
