When these douchebags do this, do they generally just change the front page or is my entire site gone?

I say this because my HDD got fried and my web gallery might be my only copy of a whole lot of photos... 🙁
 
Just edit the page so it says "I voted for Kerry you bastards!" in blue at the bottom. Doesn't matter if you did, I just think that would be funny.
 
Most script kiddiots just edit the front page, your stuff is probably still intact.

either way I'd patch whatever major security hole it took some 13 year old 3 minutes to get to.

Man, that sucks. You didn't have backup for your HD? I always thought that a HD was the primary source for data and you back it up as normal and the web page would be an extension.

 
Contact your host and have them restore it from backup. also change your passwords, and perhaps disable the front page support unless u really need it
