Some crazy Aviation videos....like a 747 drifting while landing..or a turbine powered bicycle!!

How hard would it be to build one? Is it possible to buy small turbines from those hobby shops? Or build your own? I figure you'd need a casing, a turbine, a way to inject fuel into the chamber...hmmm..

that 2nd video, with the plane getting sideways while landing...i swear to god - when i went to the philippines, the landing was exactly like that

ironically enough, it was also korean airlines

as far as the bike...doesn't jay leno have a jet powered motorcycle??

that's the correct way to land with a heavy crosswind. you gotta fly into the wind until just a few feet off the runway, then you kick the rudder out and hopefully straighten out at the last second.

Actually, yes he does. His motorcycle uses a jet engine from a helicopter. Puts out so much heat that it warps the metal of anything behind you. Also gets crappy gas mileage (of course), so that in his words you just drive from gas station to gas station. The engine has so much torque that it doesn't need gears, so there's only one.

The 747's landing gear can rotate both ways something like 15-25% to account for wind sheer.
