Some cop told my dad it's illegal to modify your car in the state of FL.

But it's one of those unenforced laws. I call shens, but premarital sex is illegal in Georga so who knows, anything's possible. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Modify...meaning what? Like changing a headlight bulb? That's a modification to the car's original equipment.

Damn, I wish I knew the most hated manufacturer here, as a good joke could be made with this statement :D. Possibly Hyundai?

Mitsubishi voids warranties for air filters. There's a good place to start.

Modifications such as blue headlights ("HID" bulbs that aren't really HID, but still use a fillament) and wings that obscure the driver's vision are indeed illegal. As are things like displaying _any_ blue light from a non-emergency vehicle or displaying red light from the front of the vehicle.

They can't. The manufacturer can only void the warranty if the damage can be shown to have resulted from the modification.

Yeah, yeah, I know Magnussen-Moss (sp?) They've been trying to void warranties for simple mods like that. CAIs, lowering springs, chin spoilers. There's been voidings for people participating in SCCA events as well.

They can cite for modifications. The burden of proof is on you to show they did not make a change in the output of emissions on a vehicle.

I think the cop was right in this case. Remember the whistles problem in California? ("whistles go whoo whoo") I remember that was stoped becasue they realized that they had a law on the books that basically says "Any modification to a car is illegal".

Granted, that was California, but this is flordia we are talking about.
