That comment implies seeking friends on an internet forum is a lofty objective. My own view is that the internet is where I get to express my opions, without worrying about offending those with delicate sensibilities. Something you can't do at all times IRL. I'm not here to make friends.

With all due respect Eakers, I can't buy into that. The kids are 1, 2 and 6. I thought post partum was short term.
Personaly, I think this woman is going thru a bad breakup, been wronged badly by a man, and has resentment about those kids. I think due to whatever happened in the relationship, she saw the kids as the most immediate and direct way to get revenge.

UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE YEAR!
I know many on ATOT are not parents........... but I am.
When I look at my son (he is 4) I CANNOT understand HOW a parent could possibly do this TO THEIR OWN KIDS!
As angry as he makes me at times (kids WILL do that 😉 ) I wouldn't even THINK of harming him!
(Reading stories like this make me Angry 1st, want to cry 2nd, and finally make me want to run home and give my little guy a big hug!)

Given that she's been diagnosed as Schizophrenic, and her family KNEW she was schizophrenic, and she TOLD them she was going to "feed the kids to the sharks", yet they did nothing to stop her, I'm nearly tempted to say that THEY should be put on trial as well.
While what this woman did was clearly immoral, clearly an offense worth the death penalty, I have some difficulty calling it "her fault" per se. Let me explain. I think that a person with Schizophrenia *doesn't have* their own "will" in the sense that a healthy brained person does. For all the chatter about being compassionate to the mentally ill and allowing them the same freedoms as healthy people, I believe that response is in fact cruel and wrong. Mentally handicapped people like this one should be locekd up, period. She should be in an asylum, being treated for her illness and cared for by people who are competent to do so. Historically such asylums have been staffed by people who are, arguably, as crazy as the patients, probably due to the low pay some of those jobs offered. Perhaps new asylums should offer higher wages and insist on higher quality staff, complete with thorough criminal background checks, etc. Yes, I know it's expensive, but I expect it may, long term, be cheaper. You'd save the lives of the normal people who suffer as a result of these nuts, you'd clean up a lot of the homeless "problem", and I suspect life in general would be better for all involved.
This is surely a horrific event, and a sad one. This woman should certainly be locked up for the rest of her life, for the safety of those whom she would affect.
