Fuji = good right? I usually just get my cd-r's from Sam's Club. 100 Verbatim for $30 or something like that. I always heard verbatim are great and especially with their azo dye right?

Fuji that are MADE IN JAPAN = Taiyo Yuden = Very good

what about fuji compared to verbatim? Do I have to look on the packaging and look for "Made in Japan"?

any Gamecube Deals?

I don't see any Gamecube games. Just some PC(Return to Castle Wolfenstein, $30, Half-life Platinum Collection, $35). They have playstation2 games, GameBoy Advance, and PSone, but no Gamecube.

FujiFilm made in Japan CD-rs are excellent, but the pic in the circular looks funny/strange. It has the white round screw top, but it looks like a blue plate with a lip on the bottom of the package. Maybe their just changing the packaging, but I always thought the celephane paper wrapped around the base.

lmao bootleg!

that ti4400 does look nice..PM it (bvg or other) to like $190 now or wait 2 months it will be like $150...hmmmm. definitely tempting.

For most purposes I prefer the Sam's Club Verbatims to the FUJI (I buy and use both). I have been told that dark dyes sometimes don't work well in car stereo systems; since I don't have a CD player in my car I don't really know and haven't been able to test it out myself.

For data, price being equal, I would go with the Verbatim. But the Japanese made FUJI are excellent and if cheaper are good enough.

Verbatim has two types of CDRs that are generally available, DataLifePlus and ValuLife. DataLifePlus is high quality that uses the Azo dye and has a lifetime warranty. ValuLife is the low end and I've heard others on this forum say they are not that great (I haven't tried them so I can't say one way or the other.) I could be wrong but I think SAM'S Club carries the ValuLife.

I tried the Verbatim DataLifePlus when it was on sale awhile back. IMO, equal in quality to Fuji. Seemed to have a good coating, and a nice dark dye. I had no problems burning with them.

That said, I rarely if ever see DataLifePlus at Fuji (or other TY) special prices, and as they aren't better than Fuji-TYs, I've not gotten any more.

The ValueLife looks, IMO, of a similar quality to CMC Magnetics and the like. (IE, don't count on it.)

Not always true, cdr manufacturers make cd's in either Japan or Taiwan, sometimes its impossible to know what your getting by looking at the package. I have serveral Verbatim's and Fuji, and these are all made by CMC. TDK certified usually say made in Japan, are almost always TY.

Take a look here to see which brands are rated the best.

Fuji are usually ritek, poor to bad media. The dye color of a cdr has a lot to do with its quality, seen here Taiyo Yuden, Blue dye are good quality cdrs, where as stuff like SpinX, Green dye is the bottom of the barrel.

I need to get a fresh batch of Fuji's to see where there coming from.

If you can get Taiyo Yuden, get them, they wont dissapoint you 🙂

Just my .02 cents worth.

except that you know the Cdmedia world page is, in a word, ancient, right?

Newer Fuji cdrs from BB (and fry's), are made in Japan, made by Taiyo Yuden disc's. And that's the last 500 i've been through have all been TY's.

What Mikewarrior2 said.... The cdrmedia info is several years out of date.... and should either be updated or put to rest.

The Fuji TY's are an exceptional product at an unbelievable price...
