I haven't read the link but I'd like to say:
Hollywood & music artists please keep your mouths shut. You are attempting to help but it's a bigger help if you keep quiet.

Thank you.

The article is BS! Look at the comments! Screw science! I beat my dog to death an it never did anything I didn't want again! Besides I'm smart and that determines reality.

I'm thinking the above is probably not the best line of reasoning. Anyone who knows about animal behavior will tell you that dogs do not have the ability to understand cause and effect unless it's immediate and even then it is very limited. Looking at the comments though is a pretty good example of the disconnect between someone who thinks they know better and the science itself. But there are people who like to be cruel to animals and each other. That last bit surely applies to political discourse.

One of the other areas that came to my mind were those who pooped Trump on the nations floor.
That would be the Democrats. Their overreach (to sum up their trespasses against the nation in one word) gave us Trump.

^ Hard to tell if either is any better at determining cause and effect given how much their nose has been rubbed in their own shit.

I disagree especially with music. Music helped shape an entire movement with positive effect. Now if we are talking about much of today's mindless soulless music, then I can agree. Now get off my Lawn!

Hey genius, how's it going? You realize you put your own nose into your own shit with your fake science, right? The facts are that the longer in time between an event and punishment the less effective the reinforcement. That is because animal brains aren't evolved to appreciate cause and effect like humans. Hell, going back to 1968 we figured that out and likely before.

From a SCIENTIFIC, not the "feels" source, which anyone can find on Google Scholar.

RELATIVELY LONG DELAYS OF PUNISHMENT DID NOT SIGNIFICANTLY AFFECT THE EASE WITH WHICH 18 PUREBRED BEAGLES ACQUIRED A DISCRIMINATIVE FOOD TABOO, YET LONG DELAYS PRODUCED MUCH WEAKER RESISTANCE TO TEMPTATION THAN DID SHORT DELAYS. THE PATTERNS OF EMOTIONALITY REFLECTED IN FURTIVENESS, REACTIONS TO VIOLATION OF THE TABOO, REACTIONS TO THE ABSENCE OF E, AND APPROACHES TO THE ALLOWED FOOD DIFFERED GREATLY FOR DIFFERENT DELAYS OF PUNISHMENT.

Now you might say it's food not shit, but the point a ordinary person, not superior in any way can grasp is that this is about the connection between cause and effect over time. The longer you choose to act on your cruelty the less effect it has. But for some animals it may be as you say. No matter how much you shove your nose in shitposts like yours you never learn.

Now explode as usual. We have you well trained. Roll over!

Did I wait too long to rub your nose in this shit argument, and if so how short is your attention span relative to canines. See, the problem here is that you keep pretending to be smart in the same post where you literally can't figure out what's being said by anyone who is. The first sentence which highlights your error is pretty short so hopeful it fits under said limit.

Well M it seems you are right. I tried the experiment and all I got was a dysfunctional creature filled with hate, but I didn't really change anything.

Agent, I have a good relationship with most posters here and we have engaging conversations about many things. I take note of you because you never have a good word or constructive post in this forum. Your intelligence is irrelevant if you can't effectively communicate, you can be a genius and a fool at the same time. That seems to work for you but like me you aren't really important on a forum. Go back to being smart and calling others the opposite. Others, not us will be the judge of our worth and that works for me.

I wonder what Moonbeam's solution is for slow subjects who will forever count fair and balanced BothSides as engaging.

Also just a heads up that simply because you can't figure out what I'm saying doesn't mean I intended for you to. Such is the nature of mocking someone, as you might see from comments directed at your lesser peers.

Didn't someone something to say about insanity? The Left keeps expecting others to change every time they make the same condescending remarks and seem genuinely surprised when it doesn't happen.

I don't. I would be genuinely surprised if they did change.

I generally think of myself as being liberal and I posted this thread to make that (your point). I see also, and I think because I am liberal, that the temptation to do those kinds of condescending remarks not only is ineffective in changing people's minds, but actually hardens them. I find that rather troubling because I have been brought to that conclusion by rather recent knowledge provided by neuroscience and the study of the brain which explains that the conflicts between liberals and conservatives happen because liberals don't have a mere subset of the moral concerns that conservatives do, that conservatives understand liberals better than liberals understand conservatives, and that this lack of comprehension on the part of liberals produces an attitude of superiority that expresses as condescension and contempt. I call this the liberal brain defect, one that I believe I have and most certainly have had and one that could be labeled just as stupid as anything conservatives do. It also causes them to lose elections because they don't understand or feel the moral nature of the issues that swing them and don't muster an appropriate response.

My thinking has evolved, therefore, owing to the hopeless of the situation. Conservatives win elections and conservatives are more driven by fear than liberals are and fear is irrational and potentially dangerous. Irrationality makes liberals crazy with their own kind of fear, a fear one might be tempted to say that in this case isn't really irrational.

I believe also that what causes the conservative brain defect is the heavy requirements placed on self affirmation by stress. The greater the attacks on the self, stressers, the greater the need to deny anything negative, like the notion that one might be irrational.

In my opinion, therefore, one is under a moral obligation no to add to the mess we are already in by causing others to feel more stress. Everybody in one way or another is nursing wounds. But it isn't easy.

While in theory I agree I can't think of one song in the last 30 years.
Maybe born in the USA however its been more than 30 years. We'll ignore the original intent of the song.

Would you say your neuroscience "theories" are better or worse than those comical psychology ones?
