I've used Apple computers long enough to have a valid opinion on them, and I'll say that I really really really dislike them.

But people like you are morons. You stepped into an apple store today and decided to build an entire opinion on the mac based on what you saw for what... ten minutes?

What an idiot. You are the kind of person irrational enough to be sold on a car after looking at it for 2 minutes.

You made it quite apparent to us that you had NO experience with macs before setting foot in the door at the apple store, and you based an opinion off of Apple products on what you saw in the Apple store... which means that you can't really customize it to your liking, you can't run the programs they don't have installed already, NOTHING...

I'm perfectly reasonable making an opinion of you off of this, and you gave me all the evidence I need.

But nice try, with the attempt to dig yourself out of your hole of stupidity. Too bad you were using a fork and not a shovel, or it might have worked.

The statement you made in bold, is just pathetic. OS X is fvcking bsd/unix underneath you idiot.

why doncha kiss my ass..yes i know its backend is Unix...i just wish they gimme more of it coz regardless of whats underneath, its useless if its all inaccessible.

Fanbois kiss my ASS

Fanboy? Yeah..so that's why I use a PC w/ XP I built myself.

me and a friend decided to roam into the new Apple store. Note I have never been into one and
I have never touched an iBook, iPod...etc.

Conclusion: THeir products are retarded...sure the interface is clean, u can tell their trying to achieve
that not only in their OS, but also externally, the design overall is cleanliness, uncluttered. BUT, there should be a limit...geez i mean you know what i felt like using their lappy?...a six year old using a Leapfrog/Leappad. All dumbed down, no harm done kind of interface, yuppie-like. .."i'm stupid,..stupid."
Sure Windows has been moving towards a cleaner interface(XP) and user-friendly style but it still gives you all the backend tools, and ability to turn it back to a raw product. With the iBook, i felt stupid, snobby, powerless, retarded.

You felt that way because you obviously are.

true. Apparently ( a friend tells me ) its easy to get past the OS X skin and into some of unix's more entertaining functions. Imagine, a computer with the stability of a *nix and the ease of use of, well, a Mac . . . . !

If only they weren't so expensive and incompatable (i'm talking games, but also work programs, like autodesk products, etc.)

I actually really like macs, that wallpaper thingy that does a smooth transition like every five seconds fading out the old image and ifading in the new image, I wish xp could do that. I really like the 12" powerbook, alot of guys in my computer advanced java class had them and I was always behind them so I always saw them playing with them, it looked pretty smooth. But alas, I like to tinker with my computer too much, and upgrade it a little at a time, plus I play games.

One thing though, I can't understand why apple refuses to go to a two button mouse, with a scroll wheel, I know you can use one on a mac, but this should ahve been standard like 5 years ago.

Really, you managed to upgrade to a 64-bit technical workstation for just $200?

Why don't you hook us ALL up with that deal of the century?

Unless you mean you reused your el cheapo ATX case/PS/CD-RW, which none of us finds as terribly impressive.

You can try:

http://pearpc.sourceforge.net/index.html

I haven't gotten to try it on my PC yet, since I do have an ibook I'm not in a rush.

damn I never heard of this project. Ill emerge it soon as i get home :)

I haven't tried to compile it on my xbox (gentoo) yet, but it seems to work fine on my Dual Athlon MP. I'm not in too much of a rush to mess with it since I already have an ibook, but hopefully the author will crank up the instruction translation speed in the future. Virtual PC runs ok on the G4, so I'm sure something similar could be written for x86 to PPC.
