Greetings Everyone,
My system is in my sig but the main stuff is right here:

AMD3000xp\2gigTWIN-3200DDR\A7N8X*Delx\ATI-X800-Pro

So after now playing Quake4 I now realize that my once pretty sweet system is getting a little out dated for todays recent crop of games

So here is my question, would I see some real good frame increase's if I were to upgrade my AGP video card (ATI-X800-pro) to a faster one? like the nvidia 7800 (or what ever their higest is)

I really can't afford to buy a new PCI-E mobo with a highend PCI-E video card. So I figuered I could afford a really good AGP video card though.

Although I might be able to swing a new AGP mobo and the AMD 939 cpu and not get a high end video card.

I just want the new games to be running without any pause's...so what would you gamers suggest?

Thanks,
CA

Yes, however the problem is that we're a little limited in upgrade choices in the AGP flavor. Hopefully taht will change. 6800Ultra is nVidia's top AGP card ATM. I think ATI makes an X850XT PE for AGP.

They don't (yet) make a 7800 series in AGP. I waiting for that myself 🙂

I was in the same boat as you not too long ago, (amd x64 3000+/ati x800 pro) I upgraded my mobo/cpu. It did nothing for games, your video system is the bottleneck...

I started by upgrading my mobo to the asrock dual939 board, that way i could keep my x800 pro agp, then later got a pciE vid card. Thats your best bet... It will get your out of your hole...

If you wait for a better agp card, you'll still be stuck later on... Plus the asrock board was like $68, not too shabby...
