SOLVED: Win 8 Installation Problem: Disc Won't Load

I'm doing a brand new build for my FIL and put everything together last night. As background info, I bought a brand new copy of Windows 8 from Newegg, so it's totally legit. LINK. Quite simply, the problem is that IT WILL NOT LOAD... at all. The screen is black and remains that way.

Out of frustration I popped in my burned Windows 8 Pro upgrade disc that I made at the beginning of this year when Microsoft was offering their $40 upgrade deal. Sure enough, it loads right up and installs Windows 8 Pro with the upgrade key with zero issues. I thought, OK I'll just use the official new key when I go in to activate it. Wrong. The new key is not for Pro and it will not take it. Hence, the currently installed copy isn't activated.

I've tried inserting the upgrade Pro disc first and then swapping it out with the new copy after rebooting and getting to the installation screen, but still no dice. It tells me there's a driver missing -- huh?! It installs the Pro upgrade just fine!

This is totally jacked up. Any ideas as to WTH is wrong here and how to fix it?

SOLVED: As a few suggested, the disc was bad. The new one from newegg fired right up and everything installed as it should. The turn around time from the RMA process sure took a while, though.

Have you checked the disk in a different PC just to make sure it is properly recorded? Could be a defective disk requiring an exchange with Newegg.

I haven't tried the disc in another computer, but that definitely sounds like something that's worth trying. I can tell you that when I pop the disc in while already on the desktop it gives me some kind of autorun error. I just assumed it was because it was meant to be run as a bootdisk, but maybe that's indicative of something else.

Even though it's rare, it definitely sounds like you got a bum disk. And you should still be able to see the disk in Windows, not get an autorun error.

I tried the new Win8 disc in a different computer at my house, a Windows Vista system, and it wouldn't even recognize the disc. It just kept spinning and spinning with nothing ever coming up. Newegg is kindly swapping the disc out, so I'm hoping to have better luck on the next one.
