even though it has been only 1 week since I installed it on a laptop
Does anyone know a way to go back short of reinstalling everything?

Your only choices then are stick to 10 or clean reload 8.1. If you've a storage partition, you can save your data, pics, docs, etc. there.

no schedule and I chose the option to keep my files when W10 was installed because I knew that I would be uninstalling it. I only installed it for the serial number to clean install it later off an update disc that I burned.

wait there is a windows.old folder
how do I make it go back? in ewcovery it is only giving me advanced/ restart now
I've searched google and it all assumes that there is an option to go back in recovery

Do you also have the $windows.~bt folder?

"Settings > Update & security > Recovery. This will keep your personal files, but it'll remove apps and drivers installed after the upgrade, as well as any changes you made to settings.

To go back, you'll need to:

Keep everything in the windows.old and $windows.~bt folders after the upgrade.

Remove any user accounts you added after the upgrade.

Know the password you used to sign in to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 (if you used one)."
