Happens always at the same spot in the game (after entering the Stonemarket Plaza in the second chapter of the game).

P4P800 deluxe
P4C 2.6G
2X512M PC3200 Kingston
6800OC Vanilla (NVIDIA driver 71.89)
Audigy2 ZS
XP pro SP2

Have patched the game to the only patch I am aware of V1.1.

The system is stable and runs prime95 overnight.

No errors in the XP event viewer.

Any suggestions?

oops

no problems for me . . . .

have you tried other drivers? . . . reverted to an EARLIER save? DEfragged your HD and reinstalled the game?

check your EAX settings . . .

can't think of much else

Thanks for your reply apoppin.

I uninstalled, defragmented and installed again. Same problem.
Tried a different save game file. Same problem!

I tried the game with all the EAX settings disabled. Same problem.

I don't know what to do now!

When all other possibilities are exhausted, there is a chance that you may have a bad CD causing the game data to be corrupted just at that point in the game. Happened to me in Baldur's Gate and I had to get the disc exchanged. :(

I was using the latest Nvidia drivers (71.89).
I switched to the one before (71.84) and the problem seems to have been resolved!

ming2020, I am glad that it is not the CD. Thanks for your post.

Thanks for the suggestions apoppin.
I was getting frustrated.
I went as far as removing my sound card and switching to the on-board card.
Finally, I decided to do one thing that you had suggested that I had not done (graphics drivers).

:)
