Solved, thanks!!! Win98 won't recognize Plextor 12/10/32A when using with SB Live Platinum 5.1

Here is my spec;

Abit KT7 Raid
Duronn 600 @ 1G
512MB Crucial Sdram
3D Prophet II GTS 64MB
2 IBM 30 GB Deskstar 75GXP running Raid 0
Netgear FA310TX ethernet card
Pioneer DVD 105 in IDE#1 as Master
Plextor 12/10/32A in IDE#2 as Master
SB Live Platinum 5.1

Without the SB, Win98 recognize the Plextor. With the SB and "ONLY" install the windows driver, Win98 recognize the Plextor. But if I installed any other software comes with the SB Live installation CD, Win98 won't recognize the Plextor!!! I tried to move the SB to every PCI slot, all have the same result.

Does anyone have the same experience, how did you solve the problem?
Please help me!!!

Try setting the sb16 emultion to share printing in control panel.

Could it have to do with direct CD? Doesn't creative bundle that with all their products? Perhaps it doesn't like your particular plextor for some reason.

Does the SoundBlaster Live get along with anything?
That card gets more compatability complaints...

To try billyjak's idea:
- right click MY Computer
- click Properties
- click Device Manager tab
- double click Creative Miscellaneous Devices
- double click Creative SB16 Emulation
- click Settings tab
- check the box at the bottom, Allow LPT Interrupt Sharing

Don't know if that's the answer, but It does cure many
SB Live conflict related problems.
