(Solved)Poor Performance, Whats the problem?

It's been a long time since I've been heavily into computers. Last computer I built had an Athlon XP 1700+ and Radeon 8500. So needless to say I'm out of the loop. I'm trying to play SW:ToR and I'm getting really poor FPS in populated areas sometimes dropping under 5fps. The system I have now is a Gateway lx6200-01 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883113077.
I purchased an Asus EAH6850 off Craigslist for $100 thinking it would fix my problem. Its alot better but still pretty poor fps. So my question is there anything I can do with this system here to improve performance? If not is there anything I can still use out of it when building a new one? Does someone have any recommendations for my cheapest possible fix to my frame rate problem?

do you have transparency AA on? you should disable it

overclock the phenom. you might be able to reach 2.6GHz, which might be enough (3.0 would be optimal, but i doubt that's possible on the phenom I as google only shows 2.4-2.7GHz)
it might not be possible with the gateway though, and you might need to use a software to overclock

otherwise you'll probably need a new CPU... the phenom II 940(AM2+) will work in the gateway 6200, but i'm not sure if the am3 ones will (there are a few people claiming to have socket AM3 cpus, so it might work)

A 2.2Ghz original Phenom isn't doing you any favors in a fairly CPU-intensive game like SWTOR. If you can find a Socket AM2 quad for cheap, I'd try plugging that in. Otherwise, a G620, H61 mobo, and 8GB of DDR3 shouldn't run you more than $160 or so.

5FPS sounds ridiculous for a 2.2GHz quad with 6850 in a MMORPG, though; even if it is a Phenom 1. I mean, the difference between 1 and II is only 10-20%. Heck, Anand tested only a 3% difference in Farcry 2. So if Tom's is getting 48FPS/39 minimum on a 2GHz Phenom II X4 it seems to me that something's really out of whack for his 2.2GHz Phenom 1 to be having such difficulties.

Nativegamer, just figure it out. There's enough tools out there so run your own diagnostics. Computers aren't rocket science.

Thank You! and after further homework,your right something was "out of whack". Something called The Phenom 9500 & 9600 TLB FiX . This more than doubled my fps and Im now seeing fps in the 45-60 range😛 I found the info here http://forums.riftgame.com/rift-gen...569-improve-fps-phenom-9500-9600-tlb-fix.html .
