[solved] Iris Pro 580 [NUC6i7KYK] Skull Canyon Can't be Benchmarked

Tried running 3DMarks basics, but it says there are no benchmarks that my system can run. It claims I need a DX12 capable card. I ran DXdiag and saw that my card was listed as basic Microsoft display device, so I looked at device manager. The card was listed as an Iris Pro 580. The DM icon had the yellow triangle, so I looked at drivers, and I saw error code 43.

I uninstalled the card and deleted drivers. I then [re]installed using the latest (beta) drivers from intel.

Still no dice. How do I figure out whether I have a faulty system or whether there is something else I need/should be doing.

The following link leads to a word file compilation of images (that can be viewed directly in Chrome), depicting everything I have encountered. It also describes my system and software settings.

Any thoughts, comments, or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Maybe try the driver from this:

https://communities.intel.com/thread/105178

Sounds like its a whole new DX12 code base.
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately the drivers list there as the solution were the ones I started out with. The driver I am running now, are the next iteration.

While on the topic... Does anyone know if the Intel Graphics Control Panel is available for Windows 10? I don't have it, and google always leads me to the drivers, but not the control panel. And no amount of [re]installation is going to make it appear.

I dont think there is an Intel DX12 path in Hitman. But 3DMark should work.

The Intel graphics settings tray is there for Windows 10. Can also be accessed by right clicking the desktop.

I assume you got rid of the error 43. Else use 4542.

When its working correctly it should show something like this (Taken from my HTPC).

Have you updated the BIOS? Is Windows 10 the latest version?
Updating the BIOS and windows was the first thing I did, the moment I got the NUC (a few days back).
I'm currently running Win 10 Pro Version 1607 Build 14393.693.
The BIOS I have is 0042
And the drivers: I'm bouncing back and forth between .4542 & .4552

I don't have it in my tray; and the only [display related info] right clicking yields is display settings and personalize [beside view, sort, past, shortcut, new].

I have not. And I tried 4542 as well as the new beta 4552. [Currently back to 4542]

I can confirm that it is not working correctly. Mine -as can be seen in the pictures linked in the OP- do not identify the graphics card. Instead DxDiag calls it a Microsoft Basic Display Driver with N/A chip & DAC.

Something is clearly not sticking, and I am now starting to wonder whether I have a defective device or if I'm overlooking something

Try using display driver uninstaller if you haven't already. Use it in safe mode and then reboot and reinstall the drivers.
Thanks for the suggestion. I appreciate it. As far as I can tell, it seems I got into safe mode, successfully removed the driver with the the app. Upon rebooting I ran the setup file in the drivers folder. Unfortunately once the drivers were done installing, the device manager put the triangle back on and error 43 is still in device manager as well as DxDiag. Two things that I noticed were that it says it will install the driver for [audio and] video, but it doesn't speak of installing the Integrated Graphics Control Panel. Where exactly does that particular app setup live?

I ran the driver update utility, and all the recommended updates had already been installed on the system. Nothing really changed.

At this point I'm guessing this is an error 43 that cannot be 'fixed'. It probably requires a clean install or... I was actually thinking of going with Windows 7. I was hoping someone would chime in before I proceed with that.

The one thing that's giving me pause is the fact that I can't the Integrated Graphics Control Panel... It makes me feel like there is something I'm just not seeing (or doing).

Update
----------------------------------------

I contacted the shop where I got my system from. He told me STFU, get into the BIOS [F2], reset to default [F9], and save and exit [F10]. And he said, don't ever touch the BIOS again. That worked.

I thought, he was being silly, I didn't try to OC or anything. I just adjusted the dedicated memory to the max 512 and the iGP aperture to the max 4GB... I remember looking through the rest of the BIOS settings, but I don't recall touching anything else.

I can now run the 3DMarks free benchmark and get a whopping 787.
(Graphics 692 T1:4.51fps T2:3.98fps)
(CPU 3560 CPU test 11.96fps)

Do these numbers look right?
