I used to have a surplus of energy but now a lack of energy has started affecting my work (age: 26)

Have you had this problem and how did you fix it?

more sleep + caffeine. I think regular exercise would probably help more than those two in my case, but sleep and caffeine are a little easier.

drink more water, eat energetic but light stuff for lunch, sleep at least 7-8 hours per night if you aren't already.
Exercise more so that you can sleep better and sooner at night (it helps to release stress and makes you tired enough).

I'm also curious... Spent the entire past year working full-time plus doing a master's, so no break during summer, just started again. The course I'm doing is easy as shit right now, but I just completely lack the motivation and willpower.

Need a vacation!

Get checked out for common diseases linked to fatigue (not saying it's likely but might be worth checking)?

I vote for sleep. I eat really well, drink a lot of water and go through spurts where I exercise regularly. Been doing this for the last 3 or 4 years and whether I am exercising or not, I was always dead tired in the morning.

My girlfriend got a new job that required her to be up earlier in the morning, so we both starting going to bed an hour sooner. I used to go to bed between 12-1am and we switched to 11pm, no later. After switching, I was getting up on time for work and had plenty of energy.

Just recently, she got switched to a later shift, so I started staying up late again. 12am to 1 am every night. Once again, I am dead tired every morning. My alarm doesn't even wake me unless I keep it across the room. Trust me, your problems are mostly sleep related.

You know, that's a fantastic point. My fiancee' started a job that has her coming home later so I stay up and wait for her instead of going to bed when I need to.

Why didn't I ... dumbass.

I also tend to go to bed at 12-2AM on weeknights and I pay for it the next day. Lately I've been forcing myself to go to bed at 10-12 and it really does make a world of difference. I barely need coffee in the mornings when I do that.

I'm just a night owl at heart...

Sleep is such a waste of time. It's great an all, but it's hard to go to bed early.
