If safe mode does work, then good luck with system restore maybe you will have better luck than me, personally I have never had system restore work ever on any system. Not that it will help you now, but I image all my drives now.

That is why I turned system restore off.

I do have my Windows partition imaged though.

What happens??? a clue of any error messages after post would be a help to diagnose your problem.

Nothing happens, after the initial Windows load screen (the black one) the screen goes blank and the computer restarts again.

And then the cycle keeps repeating itself.

This happens also when I try to boot to safe mode.

Boot from the Windows CD, go into recovery console and run chkdsk. I had the same problem the other day. I would get the Windows XP splash screen and then it would reboot. I 've also worked on 2 other machines with similar issues and chkdsk did the trick.

Any extra info you can give helps a ton.

I've seen many a computer reboot by itself because of a bad p/s, start there.
