I was all ready to get my new system up and running and to, at least, get Windows installed, and the last thing that needed to be done was to swap out the 4gb ram (2x 2gb) in my old tower for the original 2gb stick that I had had in it before, and then to put the 4gb pair in the new system.
One thing I had not thought about is that my old motherboard uses DDR2, and the new motherboard uses DDR3, and that the two are not compatible. This was, of course, a major disappointment, and led me onto yet another research project to find the beast memory in my budget for this new system.
After a lot of reading here at Anandtech, and other forum sights, as well as reviews on Newegg, Amazon, Etc...., I decided on this 8gb package.
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600 SDRAM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231428
I was going to go with a 4gb package, as I probably will never need more that, but the price for 8gb was so good that I thought to myself, just get an 8gb package, and be done with it, so as not have to be concerned with matching another 4gb pair later. I do have the Windows 7-64 bit OS.
I wont be able to complete the build, now, until the end of this week, but I will have a much better system than I originally started trying to put togehter, and it is largely due to all the guidance found right here at Anandtech.

So, instead of a simple CPU upgrade on my old board, I will have a relatively new system, with faster motherboard, faster ram, and a fast SSD system drive.

BTW I also ordered one of these to cool my CPU:
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

And two of these to put on it for a nice, quiet push pull air flow system:
ARCTIC F12 PWM Fluid Dynamic Bearing Case Fan, 120mm PWM Speed Control, 74CFM at 22dBA
