Just built my second pc ever and it won't display anything or beep.
All the fans and the optical drive turn on.
Tested the monitor and it works. Also tried a different monitor.
Re-seated the CPU (about 3 times) , all PSU connectors, Memory and GPU. Re-arranged the memory into many configurations. Cleared CMOS many times. Unplugged everything (including the sata cables, GPU, on-board wires for front panel, mouse and keyboard) and replugged only the 24 pin PSU connector, fans, and monitor to the MB's DVI output.

  • ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3
  • G.SKILL Ripjaw 2x4gb DDR3 1600 (pc3 12800) Model#F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL
  • i5 2500k
  • CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750 V2
  • radeon hd 6970
  • Optical dive and ssd hardrive
All new, just picked up from Newegg today.

I'm thinking that it's the memory but I have no way of testing it. I've read in this thread http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2189554 and others that many people have used this type of memory. The manual says to use slots 1 and 3 or 2 and 4.
I've read that maybe the pins where the processor goes might be bent or making some unwanted contact but they look good to me.

Months of planning and now I'm stuck.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

I just finished a build recently with the same mobo. Had the same problem, fans spinning no POST, tried without the GPU. Then I inserted the GPU and for this I needed to reconnect the 24pin power and it worked. So I suggest to reconnect the power, even if for me the first time the connector seemed firmly in place the second time it did the trick. Don't think the memory has anything to do with your problem since I assume you don't get any codes on the leds - in fact they are not showing anything. Right? So I think the board is not getting power. Can you test with another PSU?

Hey thank you. I'm gonna go to a friends house and try his PSU which I installed for him. I did reconnect the power and just did it again right now and nothing. I did read about there not being a standoff near the 24 pin connector which actually bends the board when you connect it, so I hold the board from the edge and connect.

Also, you're right I didn't get any codes on the led.

I used my friends PSU and Memory and still got nothing.
So it must be the motherboard right?

I had not plugged in the 8 pin Atx 12v Power Connector.
Installing BF3 rightnow!
Thank you guys. I thought that it was only needed for sli/crossfire.
kbp youre suggestion made me think about the 12v connector thanks.
