Cool article. Thanks. I'm looking into putting together a new system, so that was very useful.

From experience I'll add that there are some BIOS tweaks required for some Samsung RAM (not mentioned in the FAQ).

You should read it anyways beforehand. I set mine up with minimal issues but some of the info in there would have helped if I read up a bit beforehand.

Well, I pulled the CPU out twuce and tried another one, as well as trying a number of lengthy long-distance tech support calls before I found this FAQ (which answered all my problems immediately...), so I figured it should be mentioned here

The FAQ brought 2 key issues to my attention:

1) The 1.16 NForce2 unified drivers are a better choice than the 2.0's from Nvidia's site for this board. Seem to have solved some issues I was having with AGP drivers.

2) The 1001G BIOS that shipped with my board was causing some issues, not to mention locking multipliers with some T-breds, again misleading b/c of its date. I upgraded to 1001E and my 1700+ T-bred has since been unlocked :D

The nicest feature I've noticed about my A7N8X over my 8KHA+ is the Asus' incredible tolerance for OCing troubleshooting. I have not had to reset the CMOS a single time!!!! Incredible. I've been pretty aggressive with this new mobo in trying out different multis and FSB speeds, and have gotten Windows lock-ups and no POST messages a ton. All of these issues would have sent me jumper searching on my 8KHA+, which is a big turn-off when trying to OC.
