timecop67: Congrats! You will probably love this board. I chose the Foxconn nF4 for reasons all my own, but this Soltek board was the other one I was actively considering. I had narrowed it down to the Soltek or Foxconn board. Foxconn won out for me because I really really wanted NCQ -- I just bought a Seagate 7200.8 200Gig hard disk drive, and just gotta have all the latest toys....I will also let you guys know how the Foxconn works out. Timecop67--please also let us all know your experiences, too. The forums need more first hand experiences being posted.

dklingen--if you intend on buying the A8V-E Deluxe, watch out. Do a search for this board on the forum and read up. It has issues.

ChicagoPCGuy: Thanks for your input. The issues I have read about on the Soltek board have to do with the 1T not working and the hardware monitor being flaky (accorind to other posts in the forum). I have also seen all the bad info about regarding the A8V-E Deluxe. Back to my original point, I don't feel like any of the boards are mature for 939 PCIe. Correct me if I am incorrect in this perception.

Timecop67: I would be very interested in your "happiness" with your new system. I don't think you can beat the X800XL if you get it at CompUSA for $299. I am planning on getting the AMD 3200, it looks like it overclocks fine and I like the multiplier being 10. Good luck!

Thanks dklingen. I was not aware of any issues with the 1T on the Soltek board--but you can be sure Soltek will correct that fast. They have excellent support.

Actually, I agree that none of the current boards are fully mature for S939 and PCI-E, but some are much better than others and work as advertised. The Chaintech and Foxconn are two such examples.

ChicagoPCGuy,

So if you had to choose between the Soltek and Chaintech boards, which would you pick?

Thanks!

Chaintech b/c of the features. Plus it is cheaper than the Soltek. And it overclocks further.

What features? Soltek has firewire and OC's nearly as well. Heck 280 MHz on a board that rated at 200 Mhz is pretty good.

the sl-k890Pro seems to have issues with the onboard gigabit ethernet -- namely not being able to properly negotiate network speed (10mbs, 100mbs....). I got it to work after 12 hours or so. But when I rebooted it was gone yet again. Now one of my PCI slots is occupied with a PCI ethernet card... and I cant plug my sound card in. Soltek's customer support didn't respond.
