Soltek or Epox???

I have heard so much good and not so good about both of these MB. The Soltek "SL-K8AN2E-GR" and Epox "EP-8KDA3J". I want to order one of these boards to start my build next, but I'm at a crossroads as to which to get. I've read the other threads on both boards but was looking to get something a little more simplified here? Basic PRO vs CON.
 
I am in the same boat as you, I cannot decide which to order. Does anyone think its worth it to spend the extra cash for the Epox 8KDA3+?
 
that makes 3 of us in the same boat...i have all the parts picked out for my next rig, i just cant decide on which mobo to go with... i have been debating between asus and msi...but now i started looking @ the soltek and epox........ we could use some input here, he,he
 
Asus or MSI guys. Dont get me wrong the other boards are very good but Asus and MSI are probably top teir right now. Also i wouln't upgrade right now i would wait for Nforce 4.

I don't see why you would wait. You'll get great performance with Nforce 3 for years to come. Besides, I like to have the newest motherboard when I upgrade, so upgradeablity is not a factor for me.
 
After doing research it appears the Epox EP-8KDA3J has problems with undervolting vcore, cool n quite problems while running 2 x dimms and some problems running cheap memory in 2 x dimm.

The Soltek doesnt have as much information available as the Epox, but it has more positive reviews at newegg.

Can anyone recommend a board more pricey that doesnt have issues to deal with?

Here's the problem with that ... your situation is completely different than any opinion you will get in this thread based on your hardware. Issues arise due to complexities among certain hardware combinations so what works for BobtheOCer may not work for Blammo. Read as many non-biased reviews as you can and ignore the simple minded boobs that cannot post anything better than 'Buy the MSi cause the rest sux' comment.

I'm buying the Soltek after considering the MSI and the Chaintech NF3. Truthfully, I haven't researched the other ones mentioned but I have yet to find any negatives with the Soltek board, at least anything that I personally will be expecting it to do.

y upgrade now? cuz there is always something better just around teh corner.... when teh nforce 4 boards hit the shelves m preety sure there will b something else just about to come out... thats puter bussiness..... 😉

Nforce 4 will be around for many years to come... much longer than Nforce 3. Nothing else is gonna hit the shelves that is worthwhile to wait for... VIA is supposed to be realeasing a KT800 with PCI-E and all that crap though.

I've been using the Epox EP-8KDA3J for about a month now. It does have under voltage problem, I just raise the voltage..prob solved. It is pretty picky about ram, and Cool & Quiet dosen't work with 2 dimms.
Other than that it's a nice board, all the OC options in the bios.

that being said, I just installexd a ASRock K8S8X SIS755 chipset board about 6 hours ago.
I must say that my first impressions are very favorable. I get a better OC on my Clawhammer 3200 with just 1.475V than I did with 1.75V on the Epox. I'm not a real big OCer anyway, at least not with the A64 rig, now the NF2 boards and mobile XPs are a diff matter.
Very stable, I've been trying to crash it since I installed it and no luck so far. It took any combination of pc3200 that I had with no complaints.
The bios lack some of the setting that the Epox has such as VDIMM adjustments, but it seems to be fine with the default settings. It is prob a bit early to make the the call just yet, but I think I like it better than the Epox.

the upside is that the ASRock board is cheap.
