Anyone looking forward to the soltek Nforce2 like me. nice color to have. The idea of ac97 dont sound good to me..can anymore comment to me if it sounds as good as non ac97 nforce2. The reason is because i have a st6 with ac97sound onboard and it sounds terrible comparing to my sound blaster live value. hopefully anandtech will put a review out at the end of month http://www.soltek.de/English/product/75frn-rl.htm

AC'97 is just a particular standard supported by most current motherboards. It does not preclude the use of other sound cards.

I have the Epox 8RDA with 2-channel sound. It is by far superior to any on-board AC97 sound that I tried to use with KT133a and KT266a Via chipsets. The positional audio is very good for a (2) speaker (1) subwoofer sort of set-up which I have. The games I mainly play are: RTCW, BF1942, Vietcong Demo, and CS. I sold the aureal 2500 snd card I had previously used because this is as good/better IMHO.

The 6-channel solution might be better for a similar set-up such as mine, but I think it is mainly geared towards surround sound.
