Solo vacation

I'm planning to go on a vacation by myself in the beginning of December since I have quite a few vacation days to use before the end of the year. The problem is that I don't know where to visit. Would preferably not have to rent a car for the duration of the trip. I've ruled out NYC (been many times) and Chicago (too f'n cold).

Any suggestions?

Fly to somewhere if the carribean if you like warm weather and beaches. Most of the carribean is easily reachable, maybe less than a three hour flight from houston (noting your location in your profile). It could easily be a weekend trip too. I have a preference for Punta Cana in DR, but Bahamas, Jamaica, Mexico and Cayman Islands are all within reach.

Boston? Portland (Oregon)? Seattle? Someone already listed Vegas. What about checking cruises leaving from Galveston?

Might look into Portland or Seattle as I haven't been to the NW.

Vegas in early December should be pretty dead, right?

I've had my fill of the GOM this year so I don't want to do a cruise.

How about Denver? Is it easy to get around without a car?

Go to Central America. I went on a solo vacation last December for two weeks to Costa Rica. Super inexpensive trip and I had the best time of my life.

Vega, Portland, somewhere in California, or Vancouver if you are staying on the continent.

For those who say Vegas, what does one do during the day that is not gambling? Keep in mind that I won't be lounging by the pool in December and no hookers&blow

Last year I went down to Vegas in late November, it was still quasi busy, and while the main pools were closed, I was ordering bottles of champe to the hot tub (not kidding).

Honestly though, while I was there I saw a ton of shows, the Blue Man Group, and Cirque du Soleil, went to tons of nice restaurants, browsed the shops, took in the sights.

It was fun, though, next time I am definitely going to do it in high season.

my wife went on a bunch of these when she was still single. lots of good tourist attractions and lots of partying and hooking up for those who seek extracurricular activity. she also made a lot of friends from other countries who were also on the tours.

Why would you ever stop gambling? I guess if you go coke free you will need to stop to eat and sleep...:hmm:
