Solidworks

I installed Solidworks 2001 Plus the other day. I got it in a sponsorship for my robotics team a while back, but I didn't have the video card to handle it. I've just gotten into it- you can see what I've done so far here. Anybody else use Solidworks? I could use some mentoring over IM on some stuff in assemblies.

Lets see your stuff if you have any.

I've used it before in an engineering class, but that was mostly just screwing around with it.

I have used it. I will post some pics of the stuff I have done in a few minutes. Here are some pics of a few of the parts and assemblies I have done.

I am in FSAE (formula soceity of automotive engineers) at the university of Delaware. We are making the car in solidworks then building it. So far the frame is done being built. Next we have to finish welding up the suspension.

Some pics of the finished cars

edit: oh yeah I forget we finished maching the new uprights too. I will have to post a pic of them when I can.

Nice job with the curves.

I have seen solidworks but never used it.

I can vouch for Autodesk Inventor, which I think does the same thing, though.

I got 7 professional through my robotics team, and I love it. Its so much fun.

I was able to try it out in school in a CAD class. I didn't like it, not nearly as much as I like solidworks.

i took a class in Catia V5R9, it was a very entertaining class. I am surprised how easy it was to start and how details your 3D model could be with just 10 weeks of training. My teacher told me SolidWorks and Pro-E isn't much different from it, so I can pick it up quite easily.

and yeh, my reply didn't help much 🙁, but I saw many many guides and self-taught textbooks in my local bookstore.

Really easy. It all makes logical sense. I'm 'mechanically inclined', and I took 2 semesters of AutoCAD at school. The latter is equivalent to a wooden nickel. They have some good tutorials to get you started on the basics. Woot.
