Hey guys I was wondering if you think this is a pretty decent upgrade for the price... I purchased a GTX 460 (768 MB) in August of 2010 right after the card was released and have been happy with its performance overall...but that was over 2.5 years ago and I am looking for a budget minded upgrade.

I found a sale for $90 at MicroCenter thanks to a link here... for a GTX 560 Ti 1gb. I have been looking at a few comparison websites and it seems like a pretty good jump in performance. I just want you guys to weigh in, the card is "refurbished" but I don't think that matters much, I buy a ton of stuff used on eBay and would buy a gpu off of there in a heart beat if I found a good deal.

Also, what exactly is the "Ti" I know its Titanium (I think) but whats the difference b/t the GTX 560 and the 560 Ti really?

From what I have read in a short amount of time it seems like this card would be quite a boost over my current 460 and I find $90 to be quite reasonable.

Your thoughts are very appreciated, you guys will dictate whether or not I purchase one of these tomorrow morning!

No doubt it'll be more powerful but the 1gb of memory is kinda low these days.

What res do you game at?

That would be a decent upgrade for $90. Not stellar, but certainly noticeable, and yes, the Ti stands for Titanium and is better than the 560. If it's a 560 Ti w/448 cores (vs 384) then it will be even better.

EDIT>> Just checked local Microcenter, and it's a 384 core.

You should be able to get 560 Ti 448's used for that price, only difference between used and refurb would be used might have a year of warranty left while refurb has 90 days typically.

I'd go used over refurbished, you can pick up some decent cards in the $100 used priced range.

Probably find 6950's in that range as well now too.

A 560 is an oced 460. A 560ti is a bit faster than a 470. The main upgrade here is additional VRAM, the gpu per say is probably just 20-40% faster tops, including the benefit from additional VRAM.

If you had the same amount of VRAM and water cooling on your setup then you would probably reach very close to a stock 560 ti in performance with a decent ocer.

Anyway, I don't recommend anything below a used 560 ti 448 or better still a 7850. Other cards to consider are 570, 6950 and gtx 660. Obviously all used ones only for a similar budget.

Considering a 7850 comes for $160 brand new, nobody will buy a used 570 for more than 100-120 bucks or so. So that should be your target.

I don't know about that, I sold both of my 6870s on ebay a few weeks ago and one went for 110 and the other for 98 and a 6950 should be more expensive.

Bottom end is insanely tight, the difference between a 6870 and a 6950 is a couple dollars.

Remember the 7850 1Gb is around $180 new, so you have to fit everything from the 570 on down below that price point, and 560s are around $85-95, it's a tight fit with a lot of decent last gen cards.
