A friend of mine has a DInc2 and the Sense dialer/phone apps sort of suck. Having him flash AOSP or CM7 is out of the question, and TouchWiz (dialer app is one of the best parts) obviously can't be ported. So... has anyone gone through the third-party dialers on the Market? Any of them particularly nice, without any of the niggling issues that shouldn't crop up in such a fundamental part of the phone experience?

If you want to use it for personnel calls, use "dialer one" and if you want to use it for professional calls, calls to your clients for business purpose use "mypowerdialer" or "MySalesdialer".

Hmmm 1 post 2 dialers from the same company...:colbert:

Anyways, dialer one is great.

Dialer One. I use it over the TouchWiz dialer even though it's available to me.

I use it because it fits higher DPIs that touchwiz doesn't.

What are the advantages of dialer apps? I've only used the stock Android dialers, in 2.x. never had a need or inclination to search for a separate one like I did with email and messaging apps. The stock dialer dials numbers and searches contacts fine. For those few times when I use the phone to actually make a call.

As mentioned above... looks, themes and size for custom DPI.

Here's a big disadvantage for 3rd party dialer apps, at least the ones I've tried, which is about 7 of them. The call log in them doesn't sync with the default phone call log. So right now for instance I'm looking at my phone and it's saying I have 17 missed calls. I don't, I opened my call log multiple times today. So until I manually clear it or open it in the built in app, it's going to keep thinking I have 17 missed calls. Every dialer/call log replacement app I've tried has done this exact same thing.

I would think that this would be easy to fix, but apparently not because nothing except the built in 1 works right. It's a shame too because I really like Contapps outside of this big issue.

Go Contacts uses the default log. Besides what the name implies... it is a dialer and a pretty nice one.

I wish CM7's Dialer did not suck ass.I just want it to search as I am dialing. I am using Dialer One, Go dialer takes too long to launch.

I preferred motoBlur's Dialer

Just about every number I ever call on my phone is either a contact or a number found from an app (maps, browser, etc.), I don't even remember the last time I actually used my phone's dialer...

for me its how easy it is to find the person you want to dial.
Press d*h call and it dials up my friend D**** H***
Takes 2 seconds as opposed to having to scroll through the dialer contacts to find him...

It might look up the default call log, but it still doesn't clear it. I understand it's a dialer, but the log and dialer should be integrated. I mean I open up my dialer app and at the top I get a list of recent calls. With that said Go Contacts is decent, dunno if I like it as much as Contapps though.
