how are you all playing this? i got it d/led but whenenever i get in there are no servers up, i have it on internet and it doesn't find any, you'd think since the d/l was going so slow that a lot of people were getting it. so anyone have an ip to join with people on it?

DAMNIT! I can't play this game. It seems like I can't play any Quake III based engine games. What happens is, that console screen loads up, the screen goes to black, and then nothing happens. I can still move the mouse around, but a ctr-alt-del doesn't do anything. Requires a manual restart.

Same thing happened with Return to Castle Wolfenstein demo. So maybe I just can't play Quake III based games. I have no problems with any other game (and I have quite a few. I am a avid gamer).

Anyone have any ideas?

argh, someone put up a server, i think this demo is not the offical one or maybe the network for it is not going to be up til the 18th when the demo is offically released, so thats why we can't find servers but can only join via i.p.

Sounds like a bad openGL driver, download your vid card drivers again.

I thought you were able to blow off body parts in this game... can someone clarify whats going on here? when i shoot, bullet holes just appear, nasty bleedy bullet holes

Ya gotta do it right. If you get a headshot, you blow their heads clean off. I threw a knife and took a guy's leg off. I also hit someone with a rocket launcher. There was nothing left below the waist.

All the servers seem to be down. I had a 65 ping on 129.21.144.65, but it got taken down b/c the owner had to write a paper.

Definitely a video card driver problem. Download the newest drivers from NVidia's website. Uninstall all of your drivers/applications for GeForce, reboot, let it install a "Standard VGA Adapter" driver. Reboot if necessary. Install the new drivers. Reboot. It should work now.

If worst comes to worst, a clean format/install should certainly do the trick. I was having this exact same problem on a P2 with a GF2 MX.

This SoF2 beta is quite hot. The graphics and textures are quite impressive (ti500 and AMD 1800XP really chugs with everything on at 10x7). With the strength of this beta, I am definitely going to buy the full version when it comes out next month.

Yeah, I really like what I have seen of it, and I look forward to seeing the jungle levels that some of the preview movies have shown. I think the random map generator is a neat idea as well. I had a good time trading frags with Bruno last night, as a matter of fact.
