SOLDIER OF FORTUNE 2 GOES GOLD! (Hell gets really, really cold!)

Hell isn't quite frozen, as DNF isn't quite here, but SOF2 is officially gold:

SANTA MONICA, CA ? May 13, 2002 ? Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) and Raven Software?s Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix has gone gold and is on its way to manufacturing. The sequel to the award winning Soldier of Fortune, Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix drops players into the ranks of America?s shadow soldiers in a gritty and intense battle for survival. Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix is rated M for MATURE (17 and above) for animated blood, violence and gore.

In Soldier of Fortune II players once again assume the role of John Mullins, a military consultant working for the top-secret agency known as The Shop. In the game, players must make use of stealth, as well as firepower, to tackle a wide-range of missions including hostage rescue, intelligence gathering and search-and-destroy. To fully immerse players in the experience, Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix brings the grittiness of combat to the PC like never before with incredibly detailed skeletal animations that enable lifelike character movements and per pixel hit locations for ultra realism.

Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix also advances the genre with the introduction of a new random mission generator technology for both single and multiplayer. By entering variables into to game?s random mission generator players can create millions of single or multiplayer maps on-the-fly for endless replayability. In addition to the RMG maps, multiplayer in Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix offers nine professionally designed maps, more than 100 unique model/skin combinations and four different game modes including and deathmatch, team deathmatch, elimination and infiltration.

Excellent! The test wasn't too bad, so I'm excited. 🙂

I have been waiting for this game for soooo long.... nothing like blowing your enemies into pieces after you kill them... I can't wait... 🙂

yay finally, i just wish they wouldn't cut down the gore in multiplayer and the effects, i still will prolly like single player more because of that.

Yeah, it'll be good...

Anyone see that Unreal 2003 tech demo? DAMN! the death animations are 'rag doll' effects, I believe they call it, are just AMAZING! You shot a guy, and he rolls down the stairs a bit..shoot him again and he will flop around and fly down the stairs...shoot a guy up high and he will fall, bouncing off ledges and crumpling up...then flop... 😀

It's nice...

I've played the beta full version - online didn't work and single player was awful...much much worse than SOF1...

I have played the online multiplayer test extensively and there's a huge difference between the beta and the test....

I'm thinking the beta is from even before the MP test came out and that's why it seems so "unfinished" ....

I definitely wouldn't recommend the 1.1 GB download .....the week is worth the wait.

Man I just watcehd it. Wow is all I can say. I can't wait to play instagib on Unreal 2003.

I feel that SOF2 is much cooler than the Unreal series - whether the graphics are better than one in the other isn't really the issue here...

It just seems much cooler to be fighting with real people and real weapons that do realistc damage versus fighting with giant robots and aliens and random crap like that shooting lasers and flying discs and stupid junk like that....
