Actually it was a picture of a young relative in a bathing suit... and in one picture her buttocks are slightly revealed according to the article.

I am now furiosly deleting all the pictures and videos of my children... especially the ages where they would like to run arouind the house naked after a bath.

Even if I could, I think I would probably refrain from joining the military at this point. Navy Seals getting arrested, Army officers being charged with murder and forensic evendince not being allowed at trial, now we have another soldier facing courtmartial for being homesick.

Of course if it is a muslim who begins to show a predisposition to launch jihad on fellow soldiers... by all means promote him.

Righties have pushed for these draconian "zero tolerance" laws, with mandatory sentences, and only when it ensnares someone they consider a patriot do they object.
Remember don't do the crime if you can't do the time?
I think the Navy Seals that were arrested lied to the commanding officer about the incident in question. I hope you are not suggesting that we don't enforce laws when members of our armed forces break them.

If the article is accurate this is stupid, even 'stupider' is to try and turn this into some 'left vs right' thing.

Are you fucking serious? Zero tolerance is from the left you Califucktard.

Think again , dipshit.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero_tolerance

The term "Zero Tolerance" appeared for the first time in a report in 1994.[4][5] The idea behind this expression can be traced back to the Safe and Clean Neighborhoods Act, approved in New Jersey in 1973,[6][7] of which inherits the same underlying assumptions.[8][9][6] The ideas behind the 1973 New Jersey policy were later popularized in 1982, when a popular magazine published the right-wing 'broken window' theory of crime.

In 1982, conservatives James Q. Wilson and George L. Kelling, formulated their theory in the article Broken Windows,[7] published in The Atlantic Monthly. The Atlantic Monthly was not a scientific journal of criminology, which would have applied peer review, but instead a cultural magazine of large circulation.

In the United States, zero tolerance as a approach against drugs, was originally designed as a part of the War on Drugs under Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush to curb the transfer of drugs at US borders. Law-enforcement was to target the drug users rather than the transporters or suppliers under the assumptions that harsh sentences and strict enforcement of personal use would reduce demand and therefor strike at root cause of the drug problem. The policy did not require additional laws, instead existing law was enacted with less leniency.[16] Similar concepts in other countries, such as Sweden,[17] Italy,[18] Japan,[19] China, India and Russia[20] have since been labeled zero tolerance.

A consistence of zero tolerance is the absolute dichotomy between the legality of any use and no use, equating all illicit drugs and any form of use as undesirable and harmful to society. This is contrasting to viewpoints of those who stress the disparity in harmfulness among drugs, and who would like to distinguish between occasional drug use and problem drug use. Although harm reductionists also see drug use as undesirable, they hold that the resources would do more good if they were to be allocated towards helping problem drug users instead of combating all drug users.[16][21]

It's not just us. Al Queda disciplined a terrorist for a picture of his niece with her chin showing outside the burka.

Consider me educated on the origin. Can I grill my crow or do I have to eat it raw?

However when I think of Zero Tolerance, I think of it in terms of harassment in the workplace or basically any action outside the norm in schools. Considering schools are the domain of the left, and can't really fathom Republicans supporting the rights of women to not be harassed at work, I had it chalked up to the left.

What? You Right Wingers are the ones who love to fill our prisons based on being "tough on crime".

Yes, I'm such a right winger. A drug-legalization-supporting, gay-marriage-supporting, pro-choice, anti-war right winger. You sure have me pegged.

I take back what I said about marincounty, but is there any chance you're from California? Because that would certainly apply to you.

Thank you. The second case I mentioned actually happened in 2004. And the soldier was sentenced to 25 years in a military prison. This was intended more as a political correctness problem run amok regarding our military. Same crap was happening under Bush although it does seem to be getting more sensitive.

Let's not try to say ridiculous over-zealousness on 'child porn' in any way says accountability for wrongs to the enemy are similarly overzealous.

This kind of "retardery" happens all the time, especially in the military. The good thing is, any magistrate or JAG will review and toss it out.

Unfortunately, the damage is done. This soldier will likely spend years trying to remove the stench from his career.
