Soldering Help

Ok first off if this is in the wrong section I apoligize, all I need is one person to tell me where it belongs, now on to my question


I am looking for some soldering help for my xbox, I need to solder something into it and I need a little help from someone that has either experience or knows something about the subject.

I don't know much about soldering Xbox's, but I can help with the soldering if you need. I would suggest getting liquid flux, and silver solid-core solder. I've always gotten better results with those two, compared to flux-core, etc.

Hi, DO NOT use a FLUX! Get 60/40 ROSIN CORE solder. Use a controlled temp iron or about a 30 Watt small iron. Keep the tip clean and covered with molten solder. Practice on junk boards/wire first. Good luck, Jim

^^^Yeah.

Dont use silver solder on electronics - it doesn't work aswell as 60/40 (60% tin/40% lead) resin core solder. Plus, it costs heaps more.

P.S. Resin Core means the flux is inside the solder itself

Thanks Rod, That upset me so much that I forgot about the Silver solder. Silver solder would take more heat and is likely to damage the board. Jim

I modded my first Xbox in Jan. Make sure your sodders aren't touching one another or the chip won't work.
