Solder question

OK to start, I know nothing about solder.

So anyway, I have a small air compressor thing that plugs into the cigarette lighter on a car. The cords have frayed and worn away and need to be stripped and resoldered to the ends where they belong.

My wife does Stained Glass and uses solder as part of that hobby. Would i be able to use her solder to fix these wires or might there be something different between that solder and some other solder I might use.

Any info is more than I have now and would be great.

Thanks.

it would probably work, but you should pick up some electrical solder to do the job. It has a different core material.

I doubt I'll ever use it again but I'll check and see what kind she has.
Stained glass typically uses acid-core solder, not recommended for electronic work. Same with plumber's solder. Rosin-core is what you want.
