SOLD OUT -- TomTom One LE --$119

thats awesome. i doubt it has street-name-to-speech or whatever they call it, but who cares. for $100 this is great. these things used to be no less then $300, now you can get a 30gb zune and a gps for about $200! must-haves for a car imo

Several people have confirmed with TomTom that the LE does not have TTS (text-to-speech "Turn Left at Streetname St"), but it does have voice prompts ("Turn Left in 500 feet"). I'm still thinking about whether or not I really need a GPS. 🙂

According to the SD forums, these have gone through a few periods of being sold out and in stock, so keep checking back if you're interested.

I think these are the same as the 3rd edition except they are rebranded for BestBuy (to avoid pricematches).

Not exactly. It's actually a TomTom One 2nd Edition, but with the full Navcore 7 software (the 3rd edition has a lite version of this software without some of the features). It also has some other aspects that the third edition model doesn't, like an SD slot.

dammit! the tomtom one 3rd edition i got SUCKS compared to this (bluetooth, sd card slot) and its around $5 more! hopefully this comes back in stock!!!!

I have one just like this and there is no street name announcement but does the "turn right in 500 yards" It counts down like 500 yards then 250 then 100 yards and so on. This is firstone and I really like it.

All the cheap(er) GPS units are like that. If you want street names spoken (and I do) you'll need to spend a little more.

That said, this is a fine deal at $119.

the tomtom one le was $140 last week at best buy, there web site says sold out and a local store also told me the same.. maybe they will get more in after xmas.

and no, this model does not have text to speech or traffic updates. it does have a sd slot, something the tomtom one v3 doesn't.

Easily hackable to add text to speech. Start to finish time - just under 2 hours (need an SD card).

I bought it and it rocks.

Yup and most of that is spent waiting for :
1) Transferring the updated original data to make a backup
2) Copying patched version of said backup to an SD card
😛
