Sold my WRX, whats next?

UPDATE: Bought a beater: 2007 Civic EX Coupe manual for 140k miles, $4900, no wrecks, just needed brakes and an allignment

Someone talk me out of this 335i, I test drove it ran perfect. Got the Vin# and checked it at the BMW dealer and all maintenance has been performed on schedule.

I've heard all the things that go wrong over at e90post.com and the small things don't bother me, but the small things make the car undriveable until they get fixed and can possibly strand you.

The car has had its fuel pump/injectors and water pump replaced, but no walnut blast and gasket changes.

Thoughts AT Garage? Or should I just take that $15 grand and get a CPO Accord/Civic?

stay the hell away from used european vehicles. They're just headaches waiting to happen. It's entirely possible that european vehicles won't have this issue once they're electrified but only time will tell. They're still known for spotty software/finicky hardware/software solutions so things may never change.

One positive note is it only has 65k on it and the hpfp warranty was extended to 10 years or 120k miles. If you want a 335i sedan in auto that one does look like its priced right. Do expect to put some money in here and there.

Goddamn I thought 335i had a better resale value than that... Looks pretty clean and with BMWs you know they got them serviced properly...

Seems like a great deal to me to be honest.

Price doesn't seem that great to me. No premium/sport package.

Admittedly mine was a bit of a steal but I picked up a 2011 135i for $18.5. 2011 is when they went from N54 to N55 and went to DCT on the auto. That said, looking at your local Craigslist, options are pretty limited. I see a bit more available over in Chicago.

Are you set on a sedan?

Depends on if you are staying at $15k, I'm going from wrx to a GTI....if VW would ever build it 😡

Buying a German car out of warranty ehh? One that has been known to be popular with "enthusiast" crowd too?

I see NOTHING that can possibly go wrong here

And PLEASE for the love of god stop talking about resale values, you are buying a car, the worst financial investment one can possible make.

Chances of you losing money are HIGH.

unless you go classic

There is always exceptions to the rule.

In general, car is for transportation. Often, Car Enthusiasts lose touch with that. It's how they come with "it's not about from point A to B, it's how you get there".

Right, go nuts then, it's YOUR money.

It has the sport package, I don't know what makes it a premium package on the E90/E92's

It does have heated seats, moonroof... however it doesn't have the premium sound system

just saw this man! Give me a call if you want any help in indy. I tore my acl and mcl so I got alot of free time right now

Hey Manimal, I tried calling you today not sure if your number is the same anymore or not.

Hope all is well! How did you mess up the leg?

I would only buy a CPO BMW.

Had a 328xi CPO. Was an '08 I think.

I got lucky with that car. Only had it 2 years. Never had to pay for anything on it (oil changes were covered and never had any mechanical issues).
However, all of the paint on the front started peeling. The body panels had all been replaced at some point and the paint job done on them was total shit. Started to fade in different spots.
Dealer acted all innocent and bewildered with the situation. Carfax at the time of purchase showed no prior accidents (complete bullshit).

All told I spent about $26K on the car, had it for 2 years and traded it in for $16K (carmax would only offer $9,000 due to the body issues).

TLDR: I don't trust BMW CPO vehicles because I had one and it ended up having a lot of body damage that I was unaware of.

You and many others.

CPO means very little, at the end of the day, BMW dealer just like any other business are in business to make money.

Often, they charge PREMIUM for "CPO" and often they do very little to nothing when trouble comes.

NO BODY looks out for you other than YOURSELF.

Next time you purchase used car do your homework and know hot to check for such things (there are ways).

Also, before dropping THOUSANDS of dollars on a used car, take it to independent mechanic and pay them to evaluate it for you.

You should have contacted BMWNA, CPO certification is taken very seriously and if they botched it then its actually a pretty severe thing I've heard.

Honda and BMW actually have the strictest CPO qualifications from what i've heard.

I generally don't put much trust with any dealer. I buy all of my vehicles private party and have had way better luck and pay a lower price. My two current vehicles, including a BMW, I am the second owner and bought them from older couples who took very good care of them.

Now back on topic to the 335i. It's funny that some say it's a maintenance nightmare. They really aren't that bad. And their engines and trans don't fail as often as turbo Subaru engines and trans do. It is an auto but at least has the sport package and paddle shift. With a few upgrades you can make these cars as fast as an M3. If you had a WRX before you'll be bored if you get an Accord.

How old is your 335i and how many times have you replaced the battery already? How many times have you replaced the tires and at what price? I'm only getting started here.

got a beater: 2007 civic ex coupe, manual, 38mpg from the last tank. now I can get a less practical toy

There is a recall on the cooling system. Has the repair been done to the cooling system yet?
