I auctioned a low-end combo consisting of a Duron 1.8GHz, PC Chips M811LU V3.1 mainboard (KT266A) and el cheapo Spire cooling fan for $130.00! Buyer with good history already sent funds via PayPal.

All components are new, but will ship assembled and tested. My total cost including tax and delivery for these components were:

Duron 1.8GHz - $42.00
PC Chips M811LU - $24.00
Spire cooling fan - $6.00

Total Cost = $72.00

I've sold several of these but they usually fetch around $90 ~ $95. I can't help but feel a bit bad for them because for not more than $130 they can get a budget AMD64 S754 motherboard and a retail Sempron 2600+.

Maybe I'll toss in some free software or something. Making money honestly isn't supposed to make people feel bad for the buyer! lol!

As long as the auction is clear about what the winning bidder is going to get...no reason to feel guilty. You cannot help the stupidity of others.

I bought a flute from ebay for $700, and I didn't like its quality and I put it back on ebay, and it went for $850.
I think it was my item pics that sold the flute

I do feel guilty though.. Only because I had tried to do a refund with the original seller of the flute, and she refunded me $500, and then died or something. She told me she was going to refund me $500 first, then the rest after her surgery, but then she never replied afterwards. I've sent her several emails, and even one after I sold the flute telling her that I don't need to do the refund anymore, and I can return her $500. But she never responded.

Consider the alternative and that guy goes to say Dell for a brand new rig and puts even more profit into their pockets.

FYI, you don't need someone's permission to do a refund through paypal

I remember finding a great deal on a TB fiji sound card. paid $75 shipped for it. used it for two years, then upgraded. when I sold it it went for $165 + shipping.

same thing with the crappy soundblaster live "lets needlessly resample everything" card I'd bought previously, not knowing it was worthless as a digital interface. paid around $100 from buy.com, sold it a week later for $150 + shipping.

apparently I have the golden touch with sound cards.

I've had my RME card for years now. I wonder how much I'd get for it? $900? $1000?

It's likely that the $500 that she refunded you could have been put towards the surgery and she'd still be alive today.

God saw what you did.

It's worth whatever someone will pay for it...

my own examples:

Paid/Sold
ipod mini: $175/$260
A/V Mixer: $220/$480

Yeah but I'd rather keep the money than to have the money sitting in a dead person's account.

kind of a tough call. I can see both sides.

Anyways, I really think it was those pictures of your flute that sold it. They make the flute look amazing :)

btw what camera was it?

Thanks, it was shot with a Pentax *ist DS with a 50mm F/1.4 lens, and a 35mm F/2 lens with extender tubes for the macros.

Exactly! No need to feel sorry for the buyer. If the buyer was smart enough to find and navigate on ebay then he/she was smart enough to find at least ONE online computer part reseller (Newegg, ZZF, Monarch, Atacom, MWave, or most anyone else.) He/she made a conscious decision to bid that high and spend that much money on your items.....no guilt to be felt at all.

I paid $35 for an early 1940's Hamilton driver's watch at a real, live auction. Case was 14K rose gold. Wore it until the winder stem bent, then put it up on ebay with the damage completely disclosed. It fetched $283 including shipping. Did I cry? Not on your life.

I fail to see the moral dilemma. If the buyer didn't like the price, he shouldn't have bid. But he already sent you paypal, so obviously he likes the price.
