I am installing Solaris 8 on a SunFire v120. I have the OS loaded. I am currently connecting to the box through a serial - network cable adapter. I am using hyper terminal to connect in now. What do I need to load next to be able to access the box through the graphical mode. What do I need to do and is there a guide to do it? I have been googling a lot and have not came up with much short of initial install.

The reason I am using v.8 is because some software that will eventually be loaded on it requires it.

Thanks for any help.

Get a monitor and SUN keyboard. Shutdown the machine. Plug in said monitor and keyboard. Boot machine up.

Gotta go with n0cmonkey on this one...why aren't you using a monitor and keyboard? a standard solaris 8 setup installs cde and (open windows?).

It looks like the v120 doesn't have video and keyboard. :p

I should know this, I've set them up before...

*running into the other room to see if we've got one.

Nope, don't have one. If it doesn't have video or keyboard install SSH and connect to it with ssh -X from your *nix workstation.

hehe, I am vary aware that It does not have video. ;)
I am to the point where I SHOULD be able to install SSH but like I said befor when it comes to this I am a NOOB. I am just in the hyper terminal window at the # prompt. So far the setup has already sliced the drives and said it was complete. Do you know where I get detailed instructions on how to install SSH I know very few commands. Im trying to learn ;) Someone else mentioned to me something about getting a program called aptget? Now what program will I have to run from my windows machine "the one I am accessing the server from" Sorry for all the questions but I have been doing a lot of looking and coming up with few answeres! Thanks a lot guys
