Several hours before the announcement in Russia, U.S. scientists at the California-based Planetary Society said they believed they had detected signals from the $4 million spacecraft and that it was in orbit.

But they said the spacecraft might have freed itself from the failing Russian booster rocket and orbited long enough to send weak signals that were apparently received by three ground stations within hours of its launch.



Sucks to lose 4mil. Why did they have to launch this from a sub?

proably cheaper.........from an already used missle format....didnt have to build everything special....(just my thought)

i thought i heard it crashed into the sea??

The aliens made it fail! :Q

They're already having a harder time hiding from all the SETI projects going on, and letting humans establish an even greater presence in space with solar sailing craft is just too much of a risk for them!

...

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean there aren't really people out there trying to get me. ;)
