Software to watch video on capture card!

Hi!

I have an nVidia card (somewhat older, MSI 5900XT) with a video-in capture chip. I can capture video using some cheesy DVD software that came with the card, as well as "Windows Movie Maker." So, the card works, and all drivers are properly installed.

I would like to use my computer as a video monitor to play my GameCube. The card did NOT come with any video software that will allow me to do this. The card did not come with any sort of TV tuner (nor do I need one). I just need to watch. Recording is not necessary.

I tried a program called "Virtual VCR" (available on sourceforge) but it does not seem to work with this card.

Any suggestions? Preferably cheap or free suggestions?

If you get this to work I?m curious about the delay introduced by the video card. I know with most tv tuners this is a major problem and makings playing a game on your computer monitor (through the tuner) impossible. However, I?m not sure if the simple video card hookup that you describe will introduce the same lag or not so I?m kind of interested to hear your results.

I do manage to play my gamecube on my old P3-500 with a Voodoo 3500 (with TV tuner goodness). Works OK for me. I have not noticed any lag.

I would imagine lag to be more of a problem on card with MPEG encoders. Having to encode and then decode the video would cause some delay.

I have a copy of Pinnacle Studio 8 LE that should do exactly what you are trying to do and you could record from the input. PM me if interested.

I am looking for the same thing. A simple, stable software that lets me watch live tv and record it for my AIW9800Pro.

Also, it should have MPEG compression and not just AVI and good recording features (adjust video/audio quality).

The TV software that comes with ATI with the Multimedia Center is very unstable and the recording features are complicated and cumbersome.

Anyone have any ideas?
