Software to make OS X look different

I've got a Mac Mini and I'm looking for some software that will allow me to change the theme of OS X.. some sort of GUI that can replace or let me customize what comes standard in Leopard.. kind of like lightstar for windows. Is there anything like this available?

Probably the most well known is Shape Shifter - http://unsanity.com/haxies/shapeshifter (Only works in 10.4 or older)

But I would be careful, many of the Unsanity Haxies have been known to cause strange bugs in various places across the OS and in other programs. It really not worth the potential issues IMO.

hmm.. understood, so the shape shifter won't work on leopard.. anything good for leopard?

i've seen people who have transparent menu bar (where the time, menus, etc are at) and people who have the dock on the left/right sides of their screens.. is that something built into leopard?

The dock can be moved on all iterations of OSX (that I know of), just right click on the separator between the Apps and the Trash and select Position on Screen.

The transparent menu bar is built into Leopard, but many (including myself) turn it off as it can get annoying IMO.

Are you using leopard, tiger or earlier?

Ahh, sweet dock does move around... I'm using leopard, I guess the transparency for my menu bar isn't on because I have a mac mini with integrated graphics chip. oh well at least the dock moves. kudos aphex

I am on a MacBook with integrated graphics as well, my menubar is transparent. I like it that way personally. Are you on an intel Mini or the older G4 mini? My old G4 PowerBook 12" couldn't do the tranparent menubar, but all the Intels can.

edit: i'm on an intel mac mini core 2 duo 1.83, 3gb ram. integrated 965 chipset for graphics

It is in the System Preferences, in the Desktop section. There is a check box at the bottom.
