Software to eliminate pop-up windows?

I absolutely HATE popup windows. What is a good (free, preferably) prog to keep these damn things off my screen?

actually, pop up windows are not only on porn sites anymore. Apparently, the ineffectiveness of ad banners has forced sites to begin using pop up windows. Many of the mainstream sites I frequent have those bastards now. Rather annoying.

its porn sites and other sites as well that have them...... it is annoying, i doubt u can stop them since they are executing from the html, anyway to block that?

Well, considering that the vast majority of the popups are operated by javascript, the easiest way to disable em is by disabling javascript in your browser.. Course, you lose a lot when you disable it.

But hey.. If ya need your pr0n, you pay the price..

I use one I got from Download.com called "Pow!". I don't remember the company but it sits in the tray and does it's thing. It won't kill everything once you get it but when a pop-up, erm...pops up, just import the site into the program (an easy process, just a few clicks) and POW...it's gone. Very easy to use and works fine.

The one snoogans is referring to is Pow! by AnalogX. That guy wrote a lot of cool little free utilities.

Otherwise, disable javascript. That's one change and will take care of all popups, no need to instruct a program as to what's a popup and what isn't.
