software to convert mp3 to midi

Search is a wondeful thing (when it works). That's the most recent thread, apparently.

Anyhow, good luck. Think for a moment about what it would take to pull it off and you'll realize that it's a very difficult task (the conversion that is, searching for threads is easy 😀).

^ very true. I looked into this once... conversion from regular to synthesized sounds would be quite the feat.

I wound up finding a program that would allow my ringtones to be mp3s instead of polyphonic midis. Then again, that may not be why you're doing it.

I have tried several such offerings - none worth a second look. There are so many MIDI files available for all kinds of music, that it is not worth the bother. Just use a good MIDI search site to find the tune you want. A good MIDI file has to be well sequenced or it sounds crappy - like a ring tone. 🙂
